Internationally recognised as one of the most important guitarists of our time. His mastery with a very own style, is frequently described as that of a great instrumentalist and superior and elegant musician, with a seductive sound and an unusual lyricism.

Barrueco has dedicated his career to bringing the spanish guitar to the most important musical centers in the world. His tours have taken him to the most prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie in Berlin, Teatro Real in Madrid and Palau de la Música in Barcelona. In Asia he has made a dozen tours around Japan and other performances in South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong. In Latin America he has performed in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico.

His interest in contemporary music has led him to collaborate with such prestigious composers as Steven Stucky, Michael Daugherty, Roberto Sierra, Arvo Pärt, Gabriela Lena Frank, Toru Takemitsu, Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky and Jonathan Leshnoff.

Manuel Barrueco was nominated for a Grammy for best instrumental interpretation of a soloist, for his album “Solo Piazzolla”, and his album Tárrega! received a Latin Grammys nomination for “Best Classical Album.”

He coaches a small group of exceptional students at the Johns Hopkins University Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and as a guest professor at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and the University of Alicante.
