SUMMARY:Antonio Serrano & Kaele Jiménez - Jazz Caló
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Caló is an innovative quartet that fuses two powerful musical traditions: flamenco and jazz. Their proposal is unique\, reinterpreting iconic works by pioneers of the genre such as Paco de Lucía and Chano Domínguez\, among others\, and blending jazz tunes into flamenco and vice versa. You’ll hear songs by Parrita or Vicente Amigo transformed into jazz standards\, and works by John Coltrane or Duke Ellington turned into bulerías or flamenco tangos with fresh\, vibrant energy. \nThe Jazz Caló repertoire is a mix of tribute and original creation\, including new compositions by the project’s founders\, Antonio Serrano and Kaele Jiménez\, who bring their personal and experimental vision to the style. This quartet not only honors the legacy of flamenco and jazz\, but also builds a bridge between them\, proving that improvisation\, passion\, and creative freedom can coexist in harmony. \nJazz Caló invites audiences to explore musical cross-pollination\, where flamenco roots and jazz complexity intertwine\, leading listeners on a unique and thrilling sonic journey. \n\nANTONIO SERRANO BIOGRAPHY\nAntonio Serrano is considered one of the greatest harmonica players of all time. He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards\, including a Latin Grammy. \nHis most important contribution to Spanish music has been the introduction of the harmonica into flamenco\, a groundbreaking innovation that he consolidated by joining Paco de Lucía’s group between 2004 and 2014. \nHis remarkable musical versatility has led him to work on projects and collaborations in various genres such as jazz\, classical\, tango\, and pop. \nAntonio began studying music under the guidance of his father\, who taught him to play the harmonica and read music. He later studied piano and violin at the conservatories of Alicante and Madrid\, and completed his harmonica training with master Larry Adler in London. \nHis flawless technique led him to perform in Paris at just 13 years old\, in a duet with Larry Adler at a United Nations concert. Adler became his mentor\, and they performed together on numerous occasions. \nAmong his most notable recordings are En el Central (1999)\, Armonitango (2007)\, and Harmonious (2012)—his most personal and autobiographical work\, in which he pushes the technical limits of the chromatic harmonica. This album led to his first international solo tour\, earning great acclaim and establishing him as a global reference for the instrument. \nIn 2018\, he returned to classical music with Clásicos Españoles y Argentinos\, a duet album with piano that received high praise from specialized media. In 2017\, he paid tribute to Toots Thielemans\, once again impressing the harmonica community\, and was invited to major harmonica festivals across Europe\, Asia\, and the United States. This tribute culminated in the album Tootsology\, recently released. \nIn 2020\, he worked on the adaptation of Manuel de Falla’s The Three- Cornered Hat for harmonica and orchestra\, premiered in November 2020. \nIn February 2021\, he premiered the acclaimed project Bach & “Bach” at the Auditorio Nacional\, alongside Daniel Oyarzabal and Pablo Martín Caminero. This performance led classical music critic Luis Gago to praise him as one of Spain’s great musical geniuses in an article published in El País on February 6\, 2021: https://elpais.com/cultura/2021-02-06/bach-al-cuadrado.html \nHis career continues to thrive with new and exciting projects \n\nLUIS JOSÉ “KAELE” BIOGRAPHY\nLuis José “Kaele”\, known artistically as Kaele Jiménez\, was born in Medina de Rioseco (Valladolid) and is one of the most promising pianists on the Spanish music scene. At just 24 years old\, this young prodigy has captured hearts with his natural talent and unique style\, blending the roots of flamenco with jazz improvisation and smooth jazz. \nGifted with the rare ability known as “perfect pitch\,” Kaele can identify and reproduce any musical note with astonishing accuracy—without the need for sheet music or formal academic training. Since the age of four\, when he could barely reach the keys of his uncle’s piano\, José Luis has shown an innate talent that amazes all who hear him. \nA self-taught and versatile artist\, Kaele has never studied music in the traditional sense\, yet he masters the piano through his extraordinary ear and intuitive musical sense. His autodidactic approach allows him to improvise and create on the fly\, giving each performance a special flair that reflects both his Roma heritage and his passion for jazz. \nHis influences include great figures of jazz and flamenco-fusion such as Chano Domínguez\, Michel Camilo\, and Chick Corea. Inspired by these legends\, José Luis Kaele is more than a musician—he is a phenomenon who challenges the traditional rules of musical learning. \nHis ability to blend genres and his improvisational spirit make him a rising figure in the world of contemporary jazz and flamenco fusion. “Music\, piano\, jazz\, and flamenco-fusion are my life—the air I breathe\,” says Kaele\, whose ambition and talent know no bounds. \n\nGeneral admission: 25€.\nDiscounted admission\, for those under 30 and over 60: 17.50€.\nFLAMENCO JAZZ 2025 SEASON TICKET: 120€ (8 concerts)
