Ximo Tebar (Valencia, Spain). Guitarist, teacher, composer and producer, he is “Marca España”, a tasty fusion influenced by the classics, the art of methodical virtuosity and daring jazz innovation. More than three decades ago, jazz guitarist, composer and producer Ximo Tebar began promoting his own projects fusing jazz with Mediterranean music. The result of his extraordinary research work on the fusion of Mediterranean music with jazz has led him to be distinguished as the creator of “Son Mediterráneo”, a jazz sound with a flamenco-Mediterranean flavor and fragrance; «Jazz with a taste of the sea». Ximo is a great connoisseur of the jazz tradition and his guitar playing has been publicly endorsed by prominent jazz masters such as Benny Golson and George Benson. He never stopped playing with the giants of jazz (Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, Lou Donaldson, Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joe Lovano, Arturo O’Farrill, Tom Harrel, Dave Schnitter, Idris Muhammad…). His extensive discography (19 albums as a leader), the numerous awards he has received (4 consecutive times national award from the Ministry of Culture 1989-90. IAJE New York Education Academy JAZZ AWARD 2007, etc.), the excellent reviews it has received, and especially the modernity and eclecticism of its music have led it to occupy a special place in the world of contemporary jazz.
