TRIO ARBÓS

National Music Award 2013, the Trío Arbós was founded in Madrid in 1996, taking the name of the famous Spanish conductor, violinist and composer Enrique Fernández Arbós (1863-1939). It is currently one of the most prestigious chamber groups on the European music scene.

Since its formation in 1996, one of the main objectives of the Trío Arbós has been to contribute to the enrichment of literature for piano trio by commissioning new works. Composers of the stature of Georges Aperghis, Ivan Fedele, Toshio Hosokawa, Luis de Pablo, Mauricio Sotelo, Jesús Torres, Bernhard Gander, Thierry Pécou, Elena Mendoza, José María Sánchez Verdú, Roberto Sierra, among others, have written works for the Trio Trees.

The Arbós Trio performs regularly in the main international venues and festivals: Vienna Konzerthaus, Moscow Tchakovsky Conservatory, Helsinki Sibelius Academy, Buenos Aires Colón Theater, Madrid National Auditorium, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Kuhmo Festival, Biennial of Venice, Festival of Spoleto, MUSICA Festival of Strasbourg, Philarmonie of Berlin, Festival Klangpuren, ULTIMA of Oslo, Time of Music of Viitasaari, Nuova Consonanza of Rome, Casals Festival of Puerto Rico, Dutch Flamenco Biennial, Transart Festival of Bolzano , Sintra Festival, Donostiarra Musical Fortnight, Granada International Festival, Cuenca Religious Music Week, Seville Flamenco Biennial, Santander, etc.

He has recorded more than 30 albums for a large number of labels. They currently record for their own SACRATIF label. The prestigious Gramophone magazine has said of their work: “This album reaffirms the credentials of the Trío Arbós as one of the most complete and future-oriented chamber groups today”. His works in the world of flamenco music have been praised by international critics; The fruit of this work is his CD “Travesías” in collaboration with the singer Rafael de Utrera.

His innovative projects such as “Triple Zone”, for the expansion of literature for piano trio, are sponsored by the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung and the BBVA Foundation.

Ferdinando plays a violin made by A. Guadagnini (1781) on loan from the ProCanale Foundation in Milan. José Miguel plays a cello by the German luthier Haat-Uilderks (2010).
