INGENIOUS LABYRINTHS. Lute, theorbo and spanish guitar.
Ingenious Labyrinths is a project that began in 2020, when percussionist Pedro Estevan and guitarist Xavier Díaz-Latorre published their first work: Sones de Palacio & Danças de Rasgueado with music by the Aragonese composer, Gaspar Sanz, currently published on the label Cantus-Records.
Since then, Ingenious Labyrinths has continued to explore the rich variety of music of Iberian origin, ranging from the magical Cantigas de Santa María, compiled by Alfonso X the wise in the 13th century, to the seguidillas boleras from the times of Fernando Sor, written at the beginning of the XIX century of gallant court.
This rich variety of repertoire explored by Ingenious Labyrinths also includes polyphony by the composers known as the Iberian Trinity, Tomás Luís de Victoria, Cristobal de Morales and Francisco Guerrero, and by extension, Juan Vasques, and also human tones written by José Marín in the XVII century.
Its members are artists with international careers, Ingenious Labyrinths has offered recitals and performances in prestigious venues around the world.
The next album of Ingenious Labyrinths is dedicated to the composer Santiago de Murcia and will be published shortly by the Cantus-Records label.
