Roots and Wings

In my opinion, the true wealth of a nation should not be measured by its economic strength, but by its culture, its values, and its contributions to the common good. By the cultural richness that defines us, moves us, and transcends us through creativity.

In Spain, with its undeniable cultural and creative diversity, this deep and genuine identity pulses especially through music—and in a very singular way, through flamenco. Because flamenco is not just an art form: it is a language of the soul, a shared legacy that tells our stories, our wounds, our celebrations in its own voice. A living culture that continues to grow with every step.

Fortunately, we live in a fertile time of creators who not only honour this tradition but reinvent it, open it to dialogue, and carry it beyond its natural borders. Free spirits who cross styles, genres, and geographies with courage and truth. Artists who understand that identity is not preserved by locking it away, but by offering it to the world as a starting point, as fertile seed.

From flamenco that converses with jazz, to improvisation that merges with the poetry of cante; from the ancestral to the contemporary, from the root to the flight. In that luminous blend, in that fearless openness, lies one of the great powers of our culture: its ability to be both memory and avant-garde, rootedness and freedom. And isn’t that, after all, also the essence of jazz?

For all of this, Fijazz 2025 is more ours than ever. Unique in its long trajectory, this year it pays tribute to our music, to a generation of creators who make music a borderless territory. Those who approach improvisation and cante from different shores but with the same root: deep emotion, and uncompromising authenticity.

Flamenco and jazz—two kindred languages in their passion for freedom—come together here with a Spanish voice: personal and courageous.
These are not fusions, but visions. Not just styles, but souls recognizing one another. Artists who lead from the truth of what is their own and the beauty of what is shared.
And all of this, in this year’s edition, takes place in a more intimate setting, cared for in every detail—where the audience can not only listen, but truly feel. Breathing in the art at the very moment it is born.
Thanks to the impeccable work of the ADDA team who make dreams come true, my wish is that Fijazz 2025 won’t just be a concert—but an experience. A skin-to-skin encounter between the art and the one who lives it—from the voice, the guitar, the piano, the strings, the harmonica, the feet, or the soul… equally.
My advice: don’t miss it.
It’s not just a festival. It’s a journey into the deepest part of who we are, guided by those who best know how to tell it through music.
