PEDRO PIQUERAS. Narrator
Pedro Piqueras (Albacete, 1955) is one of the most recognised and respected journalists on Spanish television, with a career marked by credibility, sobriety and a deep commitment to informative rigour. A graduate in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid, he began his career in the written press before moving into radio and later television, where he would consolidate his prestige.
His television career began at Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE), where he performed different roles in the news services. Later, he directed and presented several editions of the Telediario, becoming one of the public broadcaster’s most recognisable faces. He was also head of news at Radio Nacional de España (RNE). During his time at the private channel Antena 3 he presented the news and created Espejo Público, currently the benchmark morning programme.
In 2006 he took a decisive step in his career by joining Telecinco, where he assumed the direction and presentation of Informativos Telecinco. From this position he led for more than a decade one of the country’s most watched news programmes, helping to strengthen its editorial identity and its connection with the audience. His style, characterised by serenity, clarity of exposition and a certain subtle irony, has earned him recognition from both the public and his professional colleagues.
Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, including several Ondas Awards and recognitions from the Television Academy, which endorse his contribution to journalism in Spain. Beyond his work as a presenter, Piqueras has held editorial management responsibilities, actively participating in the definition of editorial lines and team management.
In recent years, after his farewell to Informativos Telecinco in 2023, he has begun a new, more selective professional stage, focused on projects linked to communication, reflection and public dialogue. He takes part in conferences, collaborates in different audiovisual formats and has become a highly sought-after figure as an interviewer and moderator of high-level conversations.
Pedro Piqueras represents a way of understanding journalism based on responsibility, balance and respect for the viewer. His legacy is not limited to the news programmes he has presented, but also to a style that has helped define the way news is told in Spain.

Iván Martín is now recognised by critics and audiences as one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation, within and beyond our borders.

He has made his debut as a conductor with the Real Filharmonía de Santiago, the Symphony Orchestra of Castile and León, the Galicia Symphony, the Balearic Symphony, the Extremadura Symphony, the Málaga Philharmonic, the Córdoba Symphony, ADDA Simfònica, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Spain, the Almada Orchestra and the Wiener Kammerorchester.
His recordings on the Warner Music, Sony Classical, Orchid Classics and Deutsche Grammophon labels have received a warm reception from the public and critics and are regarded as reference recordings, some of them awarded major international prizes.
Iván Martín has been artist in residence at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Centre in Valladolid, and since the 2019-2020 season has been chief conductor of the Burgos Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of Medellín’s Week of Strings.
ORFEÓN DONOSTIARRA
Founded in 1897 in San Sebastián, the Orfeón Donostiarra treasures nearly 130 years of choral history and is regarded as one of Spain’s most important ensembles. Its repertoire encompasses nearly a hundred symphonic-choral works, more than fifty opera and zarzuela titles, as well as a broad catalogue of folklore and polyphony works. Its conductor, since 1987, has been José Antonio Sainz Alfaro; before him, the conductors who marked different stages were Secundino Esnaola, Juan Gorostidi and Antxón Ayestarán.
Although it maintains its amateur spirit—the singers are committed amateurs—the Orfeón Donostiarra pursues a professional-style dedication, with an average of 35 to 40 concerts a year at top-level festivals and venues. It has regularly taken part in events such as the Donostia Musical Fortnight (which awarded it its Gold Medal in 1997) and the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance, as well as those in Santander, the Canary Islands (closing concerts in 2007 and 2008 with Riccardo Muti and Claudio Abbado), Peralada and Cuenca. At European level it has been invited to major events such as Salzburg, the Ruhr Triennial, Lucerne, Saint-Denis, Orange and the London Proms.
Among its most notable distinctions are the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts (1984), granted in recognition of its exceptional interpretative quality, continuity and self-improvement over decades. It has also received the Gold Medal of Guipúzcoa (1985), the Ondas Award (1996), the Platinum Disc for its centenary edition (1997), the Gold Medal of the Sabino Arana Foundation (1998), as well as more recent awards such as the Fundación Excelentia Award and the Anastasio de Gracia Award of the AGFITEL Foundation (2017).
This international and national recognition endorses the excellence of the Orfeón Donostiarra, which with nearly 200 voices stands as a cultural ambassador of Donostia / San Sebastián and the Basque Country, combining tradition and renewal for future generations.
