CARLES MARÍN. Piano

Pianist Carles Marín has given recitals in some of the most prestigious international concert halls, such as the Miami International Piano Festival, the Mozarteum’s “Grosser Saal” within the Salzburg Festival, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Le Doelen in Rotterdam, the “Sala Michelangeli” at the Festival di Bolzano, Salle Cortot in Paris, Salle Gotique in Brussels, the Florence Festival, the “Seymour Center” in Sydney, the “Festival del Mediterri” (under the artistic direction of Maestro Zubin Mehta), the “Rafael Orozco” Festival in Córdoba, the “Manuel de Falla” Auditorium in Granada, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the “Juan March” Foundation in Madrid, the Festival d´Echternatch- Luxembourg, the Festival di Lucca, the symphonic hall of the Palau de Les Arts “Reina Sofía”, the “Iturbi” Hall of the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the “Mozart” Hall of the Auditorium in Zaragoza, the “Bossi” Hall in Bologna or the Ateneo in Milan, among others.

After being introduced in his youth by Maestro Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, he has performed as a soloist with major ensembles, such as the symphony orchestras of de de la Comunidad Valenciana and Principal of the Palau de Les Arts, Castilla y León, Valencia, Rotterdam Ensemble, Mahler Chamber Soloists, “Reina Sofía” of Madrid, Córdoba, Moondwinds Simfònic, Castellón, Elche or Andrés Segovia, among others, under batons such as Bernácer, Bragado, Dinic, García Asensio, Omer Meir Wellber, Soler, Beltrán-Zabala, Valero Terribas, Lluna, Josep Vicent or Liebreich.
As a composer, his Piano Studies stand out, as well as the «Paraphrase on Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries» (Boileau publishing house, Barcelona). His variation series “Matrioshka” and “Fígaro” will be premiered by Marín himself at the Gustav Mahler Center in Dobbiaco in the summer of 2026.

He is the winner of various prizes in international competitions, such as the first prize “Scarlatti” (Universitat Mozarteum Sazlburg,2007), Prize for Best Soloist of the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum (Salzbugo,2008), First Prize at the Concourse Flame (held at UNESCO in Paris, 2003), First Prize José Roca (Valencia, 2000), First Prize “Yamaha Foundation of Europe” (2001), Huygens Prize of Amsterdam for artistic excellence (awarded by the Dutch Government, 2007), Second Prize “Marsala International Competition” (2007). He has also been laureate in other international competitions, such as Panamá, Iturbi, Vianna da Mota, Baltic (Gdansk) and Sydney.

He studied with Amparo Fandos, María Gil, Joaquín Soriano, Ramzi Yassa, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Mario Monreal Claudio Martínez- Mehner, Giselle Brodsky, Joaquín Achúcarro, Edna Golandsky and Jorge Luís Prats. He received guidance from Alicia de Larrocha and Michel Béroff.

He is a professor at the Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical Katarina Gurska in Madrid.


NAYDEN TODOROV. Guest conductor

Nayden Todirov is one of the outstanding contemporary European musicians, known for his versatile and vivid interpretations of music across different genres.

Born in 1974 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, he received his first piano lessons at the age of five and at sixteen made his debut as an orchestra conductor.

After his studies in Sofia, Vienna and Jerusalem, he began a concert career, performing throughout Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa.

He has worked with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo City Philharmonic, the Israel Northern Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Brasília, the Cairo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra and many others.

In classical music he has worked with most of the leading musicians of our time, including Joshua Bell, Midori, Sarah Chang, Maxim Vengerov, Martha Argerich, Maria João Pires, Ivo Pogorelich, Gautier Capuçon, Roberto Alagna, Thomas Hampson and Plácido Domingo, among others. He has also collaborated with numerous pop musicians, such as Jon Lord of Deep Purple, Anastacia, Steve Balsamo, Doogie White and many more.

He is the presenter of a television programme on classical music and, in his free time, writes short stories, some of which have been published in a book.

In his home country he was elected “Musician of the Year” twice.

For his work, he was distinguished by the President of Romania with the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of “Grand Officer”. A few days ago, moreover, he was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic.

Since 2017 he has been music director of the Sofia Philharmonic and in recent years has also served three times as Minister of Culture of Bulgaria.
