YOUNG ORCHESTRA OF THE VALENCIANA GENERALITAT
The Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana was created by the Valencian Music Law in May 1998, and organically depends on the Deputy Directorate of Valencian Popular Music and Culture of the Institut ValenciĆ de Cultura. This orchestra takes up the initiative of the Youth Orchestra of the Valencian Community, born in 1991. Its main objective is to contribute to the training of musicians under the age of 26 through meetings and workshops led by outstanding teachers. Since its creation and until 2017 its musical and pedagogical director was Manuel Galduf. In 2017, the IVC invited Beatriz FernĆ”ndez Aucejo as directors in the spring and Pablo Rus Broseta in the summer, who soon became its artistic and musical director. Since 2018, a director has been invited to lead the work of one of the meetings scheduled annually. Guest conductors have been: RubĆ©n Gimeno, Hilar GarcĆa GĆ”zquez and in 2022 they will be Josep Vicent, followed by Ćlvaro Albiach. Since its inception it has had the figure of the director or assistant director, such as JĆŗlia Cruz Carceller (2018-2021), and since December 2021 Edgar LĆ³pez Juan i Miquel Massana. Likewise, since 2001, and every three years, the IVC appoints a resident composer, whose works are premiered by the JOGV; this responsibility has fallen successively on CĆ©sar Cano, Ricardo Climent, AndrĆ©s Valero-Castells, Miguel GĆ lvez-Taroncher, Voro GarcĆa, Francisco Coll, Ćscar Navarro, Carlos Fontcuberta and Marc GarcĆa Vitoria.
In the JOGV’s repertoire, it is worth highlighting the presence of current music and works by Valencian composers, to whom it has dedicated its record production.
